Hi
I know this is a hosting forum but we need to buy 2 new desktops here and my partner is thinking of upgrading to Windows 7.
Do any forum users here have tried it so far?
I've read on the web that most of the reviews seem positive but I just want to double-check here first, since I know that the information here is relevant and unbiased.
thank you |

Hi there ecom
Well we now have 6 workstations here running Windows 7 Ultimate (a notch above the Professional version) and the feelings here are mixed.
The comments I'm reading on the web I don't necessarily agree with all of them. I still prefer the old XP version.
In my mind, win 7 is very similar to Vista, with maybe a few improvements. Microsoft says it's more secure than Vista and it probably is but we've only had 2 weeks to test drive 7 here so it's still too early to tell.
That's about it, really. Nice and cool graphics though. We've installed Windows 7 on 6 new machines here equipped with 8 gigs of RAM and a Quad 4 CPU clocked at 2.33 Ghz.
They are pretty fast, but about the same (or almost) on the old Dual Core and 4 gigs of RAM stations they were on before when they ran XP.
Hope that helps.
